Age is just a number!
Now is the best time to buy a new mattress. A new year provides a new opportunity to finally sleep in comfort and give the next 12 months all you’ve got!
However, the task of selecting a new mattress can be quite daunting. There are many manufacturers to assess, prices to compare, and variants to research. However, convenience does not always mean comfort.
TYPE OF MATERIALS — USED
A mattress is only as good as what is in it. Buying a mattress with unknown materials could be risky, as the mattress may soften/degrade much faster.
Even though some mattresses are more expensive, they tend to use better quality materials.
There is absolutely no “one size fits all” solution to mattress shopping, so when considering what mattress is right for you, we’re here to help! Don’t rush, and take your time … Visit the Plymouth Furniture & Bedding Showrooms today to test our variety of trusted brands and find your best mattress for 2018.
Tempur-Pedic mattresses are unlike any other memory foam mattress you’ve tried, because their revolutionary TEMPUR® material is an exclusive formulation that changed the way world sleeps … from the stars to your bedroom.
The innovative combination of comfort layers was originally developed by NASA to cushion and support our astronauts during lift-off. It adapts to your body shape, weight, and temperature for personalized comfort.
No matter how your sleep, TEMPUR® material responds to your body’s temperature, reducing heat and humidity while keeping your body cool. It also conforms to your body, minimizing pressure points (often experienced in ones shoulders, hips, or heels) that can keep you awake, tossing and turning through the night. These disruptions reduce the amount and quality of sleep you receive each night.
Tempur-Pedic mattresses started the memory foam craze, but have remained the industry leader due to the quality and success of TEMPUR® material. The high-density foam softens in reaction to body heat, and will mold to support a warm body in a matter of minutes.
Whether you sleep on your back, side, or stomach, you will find the perfect level of comfort and support as the mattress responds to your unique shape, weight, and temperature throughout the night.
Finally, TEMPUR® material is one of the best materials to reduce motion transfer between sleeping partners. If you share a mattress with a restless sleeper, a Tempur-Pedic mattress will help you both sleep undisturbed.
With three, unique collections Tempur-Pedic mattresses can deliver personalized support and comfort to anyone. Visit Plymouth Furniture & Bedding Showrooms, today to experience the quality and comfort that started it all!

Finding the right mattress can make a big difference when it comes to getting a good night’s sleep. Three elements to always consider when shopping a new mattress are: Size, Comfort, and Durability.
Mattress Sizes/Dimensions can vary slightly between manufacturers. You will want to look at your bed set and consider how high your mattress can sit from the floor for you to comfortably get in and out of the bed everyday.
Most mattress retailers offer three different height foundations (often called boxsprings) that will allow you to change the height of the bed without being forced to get an overly thin mattress or overly thick mattress. The three foundation options would be the standard foundation which is 9″ in height, then there is the low profile foundation which is usually 5″ in height and for bunk beds and people that really do not want much of a foundation a Bunkie board is only 1.5″ in height.
In addition, your mattress should be longer than the tallest person sleeping on it, and wide enough to accommodate side sleepers who may fold their arms and legs to get comfortable at night.
Make sure your mattress and bed set can fit comfortably within the space it is located before deciding on additional decor to compliment the sleep space.
The most important thing to consider when selecting a new mattress is how it supports your spine. You will want to find a mattress that can maintain the natural curve and alignment of your spine throughout the night, and can respond properly to your body’s movement in order to redistribute your weight evenly across the mattress.
Most mattresses are available in Firm, Medium, Plush, or Ultra Plush variations with coil and/or foam comfort layers. It is impossible to provide a “one size fits all” recommendation, and proper support and relaxation is subjective to the user. The easiest way to determine which style/type of mattress you need is to personally test them.
Today’s mattresses should be replaced every 5-7 years, based on their condition and your personal comfort.
If your mattress appears old and worn — dips and divots, sagging on the sides, visible coils — it’s a good sign you are ready for a replacement.
If your mattress no longer provides you with a comfortable support — the sides collapse when you sit on the edge, you can feel the coils, or there is creaking/shifting noise when you move — you will also want to consider new options.
The longevity of your mattress will depend on how long you sleep at night, if you use your bed for reading or working in addition to sleeping, or if you have any personal changes in weight. The more use/support mattresses provide, the faster you will need to replace them.
A simple rule-of-thumb: If you wake up feeling fatigued or sore it’s time to replace your mattress. There are a number of highly-recommended TEMPUR-PEDIC, Sealy, and Stearns & Foster options available in our Plymouth Furniture & Bedding showrooms, and our team is always ready to help you find the perfect fit!
Many people have a bed and want to know what mattress to get to fit into that bed. Below is a chart to help you find the right mattress. It is common for mattress manufacturers to make the mattress an inch or two smaller than the listed dimensions. Also, sometimes when you measure the length of a bed you have it may be 5-8 inches longer. That is to allow the comforter and sheets to go in between the footboard and the mattress.
