Transitioning Your Home Decor for Springtime

The snow is finally melting and temperatures are finally rising … Spring is here! Make sure your home décor is as refreshed and recharged as you are, with these tips and ideas to help your style blossom.

Interior Greenery

Growing live plants in your home is a great way to begin transitioning your home décor.

Tabletop terrariums, succulents, or ferns in a sunny nook add texture and color to your seating area. A birdbath, indoors, can be filled to make the perfect miniature garden before your outdoor plants bloom.

When selecting indoor plants, keep in mind that some houseplants are more resilient than others. Pay attention to watering instructions and the type/duration of light they require when placing them around your home.

Add Some Color

Repainting a room in the perfect pastel is an easy way to recharge your space. Don’t have the time or energy to do an entire room? Pick an accent wall! Or simply find a hue that makes you happy and add an accent chair, light fixture, or rug of your choice.

Love what you already have? You can re-paint the base of lamps, table legs, or reupholster your favorite chair …

Ombre effects are also very trendy right now! Vary the brightness of your favorite color by mixing in different amounts of white paint, and apply to a dresser, bookshelf, or accent table. Start with the darkest shade at one end and gradually paint towards the opposite side.

Fresh Fabrics

Window Treatments can create a complete transformation. Floral patterns can turn your windows into a work of art. Bold patterns can create a fresh update. Tinted sheers can soften the atmosphere.

In addition, your bedding and linens can incorporate everything from florals, to pastels, to bold brights! Store away your dark, warm décor until fall and pick items that remind you of the blooming colors outside.

Do not be afraid to mix complimentary colors as well. An arrangement of throw pillows in a combination of shades can tie together different features in your room.

Floral Prints/Artwork

Create a gallery wall with bright photo frames or floral prints. You can find springtime artwork online, or create your own!

With a few simple supplies (canvases or cardstock, stencils or natural leaves, acrylic paints) you can customize the look and style to your preferences. Check out this tutorial we found, and love! Bonus: It’s kid-friendly.

Rugs and pillows are also a fun way to introduce some non-living flowers to your spring space. Choose colors that make you happy and capture the mood of the season.

Start at the Beginning

Set the tone of your springtime oasis from the moment guests enter your home by strategically placing a small floral arrangement or statement display in your entryway. And get creative! Wooden birdcages, wire baskets, faux nests or eggs will remind everyone of the excitement springtime brings.

Tabletop accessories, such as geometric vases or floral bouquets can decorate small corner tables or shelves, as well.

Attractive Organizing

Fashionable, yet functional, purchases can create eye-catching accents to some of your most chaotic rooms. Use bright containers, or even a collection of eggcups, to organize your smaller office and kitchen supplies. Add a shelf in a bright shade, with complimentary baskets, to take full advantage of your space.
